The Health Pyramid: Sleep Part 4-Free resource guide

PART FOUR: FREE SLEEP RESOURCE GUIDE

Your Sleep Reset

Over the last three parts of the Health Pyramid, we have talked about what actually happens while you sleep, why you can sleep eight hours and still wake up exhausted, and all the little things we can do to give our bodies a better opportunity to rest.

But information only helps if we actually do something with it.

And before you run out and buy blackout curtains, throw your phone across the room, order magnesium, change your mattress and completely redesign your bedtime routine by tonight 😂, I want you to do something much simpler.

Pay attention.

Because your sleep is personal.

What works for me may not work for you.

Your schedule is different. Your body is different. Your stress is different. Your hormones, medications, health conditions, environment, responsibilities and even your natural sleep rhythm can all affect what happens between the time you climb into bed and the time you wake up.

So for Part Four, I'm giving you something different.

I created a free printable Sleep Reset Guide to help you take everything we've talked about and apply it to your own life.

Inside, you'll be able to:

• look honestly at your current sleep habits

• figure out whether what you're calling "tired" feels more like sleepiness, fatigue or both

• identify things that may be quietly disrupting your sleep

• do a Sleep Sanctuary audit of your own bedroom

• look at what happens inside your brain when your head hits the pillow

• build a bedtime routine that actually fits your life

• track your sleep for seven days

• look for patterns between your habits, sleep and daytime energy

• write down symptoms or questions you may want to bring to a healthcare provider

• choose one small yes to work on instead of trying to change everything at once

And I want to emphasize that last part.

This isn't another wellness checklist designed to show you everything you're doing wrong.

I don't want perfect sleepers.

I want people who understand their bodies better.

Maybe you discover that you sleep dramatically better when you stop caffeine earlier.

Maybe you realize your bedtime changes by three hours depending on the night.

Maybe you finally notice that alcohol affects your sleep more than you thought.

Maybe your bedroom isn't actually very restful.

Maybe you discover that you're getting enough hours of sleep but still experiencing significant daytime sleepiness.

Maybe after tracking everything for a week, you realize something doesn't add up and decide it's time to talk to your doctor.

That counts too.

Sometimes self care is changing a habit.

Sometimes self care is asking for help.

And sometimes self care is simply becoming curious about your body instead of frustrated with it.

So download the guide, print it out and give yourself seven days.

Don't try to fix anything on Day One.

Just notice.

Write things down.

Look for patterns.

Listen to your body.

Then choose one realistic change you can make.

Because if there's one thing I hope you've taken away from this entire sleep series, it's this:

Sleep isn't wasted time.

It isn't laziness.

It isn't something you earn once the laundry is folded, the emails are answered, the kids are taken care of and everything else on your list is finished.

Sleep is self care.

Sleep is biology.

Sleep is necessary.

And learning to protect it may be one of the most important small yeses you ever give yourself.

Your free Sleep Reset Guide is below.

Print it. Use it. Write all over it.

And then let me know what you discover about your sleep.

I have a feeling some of you are going to be surprised.
